Why practitioner accuracy matters

Each service page should identify who provides the consultation, who performs any procedure, which locations are available and when referral is more appropriate.

Titles such as specialist, surgeon and gynaecologist should only be used for practitioners whose current registration supports that description.

A private first step

Discuss the most appropriate next step

Patients may begin with an in-person appointment with a doctor, a phone discussion with the doctor’s team, or a telehealth consultation with a doctor. The most appropriate pathway depends on the concern and whether an examination, investigation or specialist review is required.

General information only. Individual assessment is required before treatment is recommended. Service availability varies by practitioner, location and clinical suitability. For urgent symptoms or a medical emergency, contact your GP, urgent care service or call 000.
