What is Uterine Prolapse?

Uterine Prolapse is when the uterus sits lower than it should. The uterus, in its normal position is supported by pelvic connective tissue; pubococcygeus muscle and uterine ligaments. These allow the uterus to descend into the vaginal canal If they become weakened. Prolapse of the vaginal walls, bladder or rectum can be a natural result of: pregnancy, childbirth trauma; especially from large babies or abrupt Labour and delivery, loss of muscle tone due to ageing and estrogens. Risk factors multiply with obesity, excess coughing; due to chronic bronchitis and asthma, constipation, abnormal muscle strain and large uterine fibroids.

Our genetic make-up may also be a major factor.

Should you have any concerns about pain or discomfort in this area, do not hesitate to make an appointment with our Doctors atGéniale, for life changing treatment.
